Moving into a new place can be exciting . . . but the actual PROCESS of moving isn’t fun. At all.
A new survey asked people what the worst part of moving was, and the top responses include: It being a bigger-than-expected hassle . . . it being a bigger-than-expected expense . . . and being sad to leave your old place.
But one regret was even more common: People wishing that they’d used this opportunity to “discard more belongings.” You know, donating old clothes and appliances, or just trashing the crap you don’t need. (Especially the borderline “sentimental” nonsense that you wouldn’t ACTUALLY miss.)
92% of Americans who moved last year said they faced challenges during their move. And 82% say it was stressful.
35% say moving is more stressful than planning a wedding.
29% say moving is more stressful than having a baby.
19% say moving is more stressful than getting a divorce.
17% say moving is more stressful than getting laid off.
14% say moving is more stressful than a death in the family.
