Welcome to the new new – a new thing – The Scott and Sadie Show! Hi, it’s Scott typing these show notes. I’m telling you because it feels weird talking about myself in the third person.
It has been 18 months since we have done a show, and we pick up where we left off – with Sadie dominating a conversation about Sister Wives and me somehow drifting into trans-humanism – that’s deep.
Actually, I start trying to provide some sort of explanation about this show and how we got here, but Sadie interrupts me to talk about other people’s podcasts. Huh?! Bottomline, I decided to run for Congress. My employer of 20 years, iHeart Media, didn’t like the idea, and “suspended me.” Sadie puttered along for a few more months until she left the building and started her podcast, Sadie and Friends.
We ran into each other at Bonefish in early November, and she said, “you wanna” and I said, “why not” and so here we are. I think it’s important to explain. Maybe Sadie will let me do that in tomorrow’s show. Anyway, back to today’s show.
I make a couple references to “latency.” Let me explain. Latency is basically a delay – you see it a lot if you watch an interview on news programs where the interviewee does the interview via Skype or Zoom or other such video software nonsense. That awkward pause between question and answer is a digital delay.
Sadie has a studio in her home, and I have a studio in a spare bedroom in mine. When we record The Scott and Sadie Show, we will not be in the same studio together as in the old radio days. We are linking our two studios via a web-based app called Streamyard, which I am not a fan of because of said latency.
We could fix the problem with a couple Comrex boxes, but the damn things are $2k each, and we both need one. So, unless we make any money with this little hobby, I don’t want to spend that kind of dough. I’ll work it out – I promise. And I shared this little issue, just in case someone else nerds out on this kind of stuff like I do and may have a suggestion. Our contact information is all over this silly website, so drop us a note.
Somehow we delve into AI and then into COVID – it’s a jumbled mess, but that’s what was always so fun about what we did.
THANKS for listening. As time goes on, we’ll work out ways to listen to the show live as we record it and interact with us. You can always do that via social media. Sadie stole all our old accounts, so we’re starting from Scratch with new ones…
We have a puny number of followers, so kindly do us a solid and follow along. So that’s out first show back – thanks for listening!
