The ‘Secret’ to Success: Spoiler Alert—It’s Not a Secret, and You’re Probably Doing It Wrong
According to Empower’s latest revelation, over half of Americans believe there’s a “secret” to success, and apparently, it involves raking in a cool $270,000 a year. Because nothing says “I’m successful”, like setting an arbitrary six-figure salary goal that most of us will never sniff.
But wait, there’s more! These financial sages have identified the top four paths to this elusive success:
- Hard Work (84%): Because burning yourself out is the new black.
- Talent (65%): As if being born with a silver spoon or a golden voice is something you can just pick up at Walmart.
- Who You Know (55%): Networking—because it’s not what you know, it’s who you can schmooze.
- Luck and Circumstance (51%): Finally, some honesty.
Despite these “insights,” only 37% of people consider themselves financially successful right now. The rest of us are just out here grinding, hoping that our hard work, talent, and LinkedIn connections will align with the stars.
So, what’s your definition of success? Is it a fat paycheck, a fancy title, or just making it through Monday without crying? Share your thoughts in the comments below, and let’s all pretend we’re not silently judging each other.
