We’re heading into sunburn season, so here’s a pro tip: When you’re drinking outdoors, apply sunscreen BEFORE you get drunk.
A study at Florida Atlantic University found you’re more likely to get a sunburn when you’ve been drinking, and for obvious reasons.
They talked to a bunch of people who’d recently been burned, and around one in five said alcohol was a factor. 22% admitted they’d had a few drinks.
It’s because you’re less likely to apply sunscreen when you’re tipsy . . . more likely to misjudge how long you’ve been in the sun . . . and potentially more likely to PASS OUT in the sun.
A few other times you need to remember: 11% said they were working outside when they got sunburned . . . 10% were swimming . . . and 7% were exercising.
But the top time to pay attention is when you’re doing more than one of those things. 43% said they were “multitasking” when it happened.
