Peeps Searched Most, But Not Loved Most

Peeps might dominate Easter candy searches, but America’s true sweethearts are still Reese’s Eggs—no contest. Sorry, marshmallow lovers.

Google looked at the top Easter candies we’ve been searching for in the lead-up to Easter Sunday.  And it’s PEEPS in most states . . . but that doesn’t mean they’re our favorite.

35 states have googled Peeps more than any other Easter candy this month.  Gummy candies are next with five states.  No other type of candy got more than two.  Here’s the map.

That doesn’t mean we love Peeps though, or even like them.  Plenty of those may have been HATE-searches.  ICEE also just debuted Peeps-flavored slushies last month.  So maybe that has something to do with it.

If you DO like Peeps, we’re not saying you’re wrong.  But they’re definitely not AMERICA’S favorite Easter candy.  Instacart did a list earlier this month of the most-purchased Easter candies, and Peeps didn’t even crack the Top 10.

And a new survey from this week ALSO found Peeps aren’t our favorite.  Can you guess what the #1 candy is?

1.  Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs, with 26% of the vote.  They also topped Instacart’s most-purchased list.

2.  Chocolate Easter bunnies, 13%.

3.  Cadbury Creme Eggs, also 13%.

4.  Jelly beans, 12%.

5.  Robin Eggs, 9%.  They’re just Easter-themed Whoppers.

Peeps ranked sixth with 7% of the vote.  So 1 in 14 people still love them the most.

Google Trends also looked at the top types of Easter egg hunts by state, and the top Easter egg basket trends.  “Minecraft” and Hello Kitty-themed baskets are big this year.

Meet Scott and Sadie: the anti-heroes of morning radio turned podcast renegades. Scott’s 40 years in broadcasting have left him fluent in snark, while Sadie’s nepotistic origins (thanks, Mom!) brought the unfiltered charm that made them a Northern Colorado favorite. After corporate radio ghosted them harder than a bad Tinder date, the duo ditched FCC babysitters and went full rogue. Now, they’re back with a podcast that’s equal parts wit, sarcasm, and a big middle finger to mediocrity. Loyal fans, curious newcomers, or algorithm strays—welcome to the chaos.
