10 Jobs That Require Taking Verbal Abuse Like a Pro

These jobs require nerves of steel and thick skin—handling angry customers, students, and bosses is just part of it.

We’re sure people call us morons all the time.  We’re just lucky podcasting is a one-way street . . .

Someone asked Reddit to name the top jobs that require a high tolerance for being YELLED at.  Are you one of the very patient people with a job on this list?

1.  Customer service reps.  Especially if you work at a call center.

2.  Teachers.  They get yelled at by kids AND parents.

3.  Members of the military.  Being yelled at is expected, especially in basic training.

4.  Referees.  From pro sports all the way down to Little League.

5.  Cops.  And they’re expected to stay calm and professional through it all.

6.  Healthcare workers.  That includes doctors, nurses, and even vets.  Emotions run high in a crisis, especially when it’s medical stuff.

7.  Pharmacists.  Again, it’s health-related.  And they end up being the middle-man for insurance stuff.

8.  Social workers.  It’s just a high-stress environment.

9.  Gate agents for airlines.  They deal with stressed-out travelers all day.

10.  Line cooks.  Watch any episode of “The Bear” for a taste of what it’s like.

Scott and Sadie

Meet Scott and Sadie: the anti-heroes of morning radio turned podcast renegades. Scott’s 40 years in broadcasting have left him fluent in snark, while Sadie’s nepotistic origins (thanks, Mom!) brought the unfiltered charm that made them a Northern Colorado favorite. After corporate radio ghosted them harder than a bad Tinder date, the duo ditched FCC babysitters and went full rogue. Now, they’re back with a podcast that’s equal parts wit, sarcasm, and a big middle finger to mediocrity. Loyal fans, curious newcomers, or algorithm strays—welcome to the chaos.
