France Wants People to Wear Shirts Five Times Before Washing Them

How many times should you wear a shirt before washing it? France says five. Their EPA-style agency claims less laundry saves the environment and your clothes. But the internet isn’t buying it. Reasonable or just gross? Let’s discuss the hygiene debate that’s got everyone talking.

How many times do you wear a shirt before you wash it?  Just once?  Maybe twice?  People online are making fun of France for telling its people to wear their shirts FIVE TIMES.

They also say to wear bras seven times in between washes . . . workout clothes three times . . . pajamas for a week . . . and jeans for a month.

The advice comes from their Ecological Transition Agency, which is like their EPA.  They want people to stop doing so much laundry, because it’s bad for the environment and ruins your clothes.

The advice isn’t actually new.  It’s just trending because conservatives in France want to scrap the whole agency to save money.  So they’re pushing the story.

Some people think it’s reasonable advice . . . others think it’s gross . . . and a lot of people in France are just annoyed it’s trending at all.

There was an old stereotype that French people weren’t the cleanest.  But recent surveys have found they have better hygiene than most in Europe.

Scott’s 40 years in broadcasting have left him fluent in snark, while Sadie’s nepotistic origins (thanks, Mom!) brought the unfiltered charm that made them a Northern Colorado favorite. After corporate radio ghosted them harder than a bad Tinder date, the duo ditched FCC babysitters and went full rogue. Now, they’re back with a podcast that’s equal parts wit, sarcasm, and a big middle finger to mediocrity. Loyal fans, curious newcomers, or algorithm strays—welcome to the chaos.
