We say so long to February this weekend. Here are a few things to look forward to in March . . .
1. Daylight Saving Time starts next Sunday, March 9th. You’ll lose an hour of sleep that night, but it won’t get dark so early anymore. Then March 20th is the first day of spring.
2. It’s almost March Madness time. Selection Sunday is March 16th. Then the men get started on the 18th, and the women’s tournament starts up the next day.
The new Major League Baseball season also starts in a few weeks. The Cubs and Dodgers play the first series in Japan starting March 18th. Opening Day for everyone else is March 27th.
3. Other stuff on TV: The Oscars are this Sunday . . . “Grey’s Anatomy” and “9-1-1” return the 6th . . . “American Idol” and “The Righteous Gemstones” are back on the 9th . . . John Mulaney’s live Netflix talk show premieres the 12th . . .
. . . Bill Burr’s new standup special hits Hulu the 14th . . . Seth Rogen’s new Apple TV series “The Studio” starts the 26th . . . “Bosch: Legacy” is back the 27th . . . and “The Simpsons” returns for its 37th season on March 30th.
4. In theaters: Robert Pattinson’s sci-fi space thriller “Mickey 17” lands next Friday. The Steven Soderbergh spy thriller “Black Bag” comes out the 14th. And Disney’s new live-action “Snow White” opens March 21st.
5. And finally, the holidays: The big ones are Ramadan, which starts tonight . . . Lent starts next Wednesday . . . March 8th is International Women’s Day . . . Purim starts the 13th . . . and the 17th is St. Patrick’s Day.
There’s also National Cereal Day on March 7th . . . National Ranch Dressing Day on the 10th . . . Pi Day on March 14th . . . National Puppy Day on the 23rd . . . Waffle Day on the 25th . . . and March 27th is National VIAGRA Day.
