Santa Believers = Bigger Holiday Budgets: Are Naughty Kids Actually Giftless?

Parents of Santa believers spend more during the holidays. But does anyone actually follow through on naughty list threats? Share your parenting wins—and fails—in the comments!

Santa believers, rejoice—or dread, depending on your budget. According to a recent survey, parents whose kids believe in the jolly guy with the beard tend to spend significantly more during the holidays. Turns out, keeping the magic alive comes with a price tag, and it’s way bigger than cookies and milk.

The survey found that parents shell out extra cash to make sure their kids have the “full Santa experience,” complete with over-the-top presents, personalized stockings, and, for some reason, way too many trips to Target. Apparently, when your kid believes an omniscient old man is monitoring their behavior, you feel obligated to reward them for good grades—and possibly for just existing.

But here’s the kicker: despite all the spending, most parents never actually follow through on the naughty list threats. You know the ones: “If you don’t clean your room, Santa’s not bringing you anything!” Yeah, sure, Karen. We all know your kid is still getting that PlayStation 5.

Your Turn: Naughty List or Nice?

Have you ever been bold enough to actually skip gifts because your kids were “naughty”? Or is it all just idle threats while you sneak another $50 onto your credit card? Share your holiday parenting wins (or fails) in the comments below—bonus points if you’ve ever tried to gift-wrap a lump of coal.

Scott and Sadie

Meet Scott and Sadie: the anti-heroes of morning radio turned podcast renegades. Scott’s 40 years in broadcasting have left him fluent in snark, while Sadie’s nepotistic origins (thanks, Mom!) brought the unfiltered charm that made them a Northern Colorado favorite. After corporate radio ghosted them harder than a bad Tinder date, the duo ditched FCC babysitters and went full rogue. Now, they’re back with a podcast that’s equal parts wit, sarcasm, and a big middle finger to mediocrity. Loyal fans, curious newcomers, or algorithm strays—welcome to the chaos.
