Thanksgiving Dinner Costs Drop 5%—Still 19% Higher Than 2019

AFBF reports a 5% decrease in Thanksgiving dinner costs from last year, but prices remain 19% higher than five years ago. So, enjoy your “cheaper” feast.

In a move that screams “let them eat turkey,” the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) proudly announces that your Thanksgiving feast for ten will now set you back a mere $58.08. That’s a whopping 5% less than last year’s wallet massacre. But before you start planning that extra side of caviar, remember: this “bargain” is still 19% higher than what you paid five years ago.

The AFBF’s annual survey, now in its 39th year of stating the obvious, reveals that while turkey prices have mercifully dropped by 6%, other essentials like dinner rolls and cranberries have the audacity to cost more. So, while your bird might be cheaper, your carb fix and tart berries are still plotting against your budget.

Let’s not forget the farmers, who are apparently having “hard conversations” around their dinner tables. Translation: they’re still getting screwed by rising costs, but hey, at least your grocery bill is slightly less horrifying.

So, as you gather ’round this Thanksgiving, give thanks for the 5% savings. Just don’t look too closely at the 19% hike since 2019, or you might lose your appetite.

Meet Scott and Sadie: the anti-heroes of morning radio turned podcast renegades. Scott’s 40 years in broadcasting have left him fluent in snark, while Sadie’s nepotistic origins (thanks, Mom!) brought the unfiltered charm that made them a Northern Colorado favorite. After corporate radio ghosted them harder than a bad Tinder date, the duo ditched FCC babysitters and went full rogue. Now, they’re back with a podcast that’s equal parts wit, sarcasm, and a big middle finger to mediocrity. Loyal fans, curious newcomers, or algorithm strays—welcome to the chaos.
